Landstar employees from the Rockford service center recently volunteered to help build a new home for a local family in need. The 20 employees worked to support Habitat for Humanity in support of the nonprofit’s vision of a world where everyone has a decent, affordable place to live.

This hands-on effort is just the beginning! In September, Landstar announced a new corporate alliance with Habitat for Humanity to support the housing organization’s nationwide mission through both logistical assistance and hands-on volunteer work. The full program is set to launch in 2026, but in October Landstar took an opportunity to team up with Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity.

The call went out in Rockford for any employee willing to lend a hand and make a difference in their community—no construction experience needed. Volunteers from Accounts Receivables, Agent Development, BCO Qualifications, BCO Recruiting, Contractor Services, IT, LCAPP, Operations, Revenue Processing, and Safety Services led the way. Human Resources and Learning and Development coordinated the two work shifts covered by the volunteers who spent the day helping construct the home while building community.
